Phuket flight forced back to Bangkok

7.30am. on my way to the market.

Some serious cloud in Phuket today, coming in from the SW and bringing some heavy rain. It didn't last long, and by late morning the sun was shining again, so typical of the weather in Phuket at the moment. But maybe today was special as it was the first time in 15 years that a Thai Airways flight was unable to land at Phuket International Airport and had to return to Bangkok's Suwannaphum Airport, finally flying back into Phuket later in the morning. http://www.phuketgazette.net/news/detail.asp?id=10730

What happened to Phuket's rainy season?

It is really hard to believe, with blue skies and temperatures up in the 30's, that this is Phuket's rainy season! The weather is actually much better than it was in March and April!
